Update from the farm
A wet gloomy winter along with forecast prices has put a bit of a downer on farming. But it’s great to see the sun and new progeny being born. As of 30 August, we had 58 out of 100 calves tagged, with the due date being 28 August. A short gestation from the sire and dam makes a difference.
Lambing at Rockley has also kicked off for us with favourable weather so far. If you have already started into this busy time or are about to start we would like to wish you all the best for your lambing and calving. In these challenging times, it is good to get off the farm and connect with others. You’re most welcome to come along to our Sale, even if you’re not looking to buy a bull.
Open Day
Friday 6 October
On Friday 6 October, from 11am to 3pm, we are holding our Open Day at Rockley Farm, which is your chance to view the Sale Bulls and plan ahead for our annual yearling bull sale the following week.
“Black Friday Sale”
Friday 13 October
On Friday 13 October, we have 30-35 of our best bulls up for sale in our annual yearling bull sale. The sale starts at 2.30pm, with viewing from 1pm or by prior arrangement. Whether you’re looking to develop your breeding programme or keen to meet other farmers and enjoy a steak or some home baking, we look forward to welcoming you to Rockley Farm.
We have a preliminary list of bulls available, and this will be refined before the sale. Late September we will muscle scan our heifers and bulls, and semen test our bulls, and this data will determine which of our boys will make the cut!
Exciting new sires of our 2023 Sale Bulls
Paratrooper and Twin Oaks
We are excited to introduce the strong genetics of two new sires to the market, through the progeny of Paratrooper and Twin Oaks.
Millah Murrah Paratrooper P15 sold for an Australian record of $160,000. He was selected for his calving ease and curve bending growth. He also has excellent EMA and IMF figures.
Get your hands on our catalogue
Our e-catalogue will be out Tuesday 3 October and at the printers that week. You can pick up a hard copy of our Catalogue at our Open Day. If you can’t make our Open Day and would like it delivered please let us know.
Our Catalogue is printed late to incorporate all the muscle scanning data from the September Run EBVs. Incorporating this data lifts the accuracies in our EBVs to help the buyer with their purchasing decision.
We look forward to meeting you at our Open Day and Annual Sale!
